Bikes, Repairs & Services

Our Programs & Services

Lincoln Bike Kitchen provides free bicycles and repairs to individuals and families facing financial or situational barriers. Whether you need a bike for work, want to give your child their first bicycle, or need a quick repair, we're here to help through community donations and volunteer support.

Child Bike Giveaway (ages 3-14)

Riding a bike is a treasured childhood experience! LBK provides an opportunity for children ages 3-14 years to receive a free child size bicycle.

How to Apply for a Kids Bike

LBK serves children & families in our community experiencing financial or situational barriers. Situational barriers means a household challenge that makes it difficult to afford a bike right now (such as job loss, illness, or unexpected costs).

Who Qualifies:

Our program is intended for families facing financial or situational barriers, such as:

  • SNAP/WIC/EBT recipients
  • Free or reduced school lunch program participants
  • Medicaid/CHIP recipients
  • Families experiencing housing instability
  • Unemployment or reduced work hours
  • Other financial or household challenges

Adult Bikes (Ages 15+)

If you are an adult that needs a bike to get to work or school we partner with community organizations and Lincoln / Lancaster County Courts to assist adults to get a bike for daily transportation needs.

How Adults Can Request a Bicycle

Adults can request a bicycle through a sponsor, such as an agency staff member, doctor, pastor/priest, or counselor—someone who can confirm your need for a bicycle due to financial or situational barriers.

To request a bike: Have the SPONSOR email us at info@lincolnbikekitchen.org

The sponsor should provide:

  • Their name and contact information
  • Their affiliation with the recipient
  • Confirmation of the recipient's need for a bicycle

Services We Don't Provide

We do not repair e-bikes.

E-bikes require specialized electrical and mechanical expertise that differs from traditional bicycle repair. While we accept e-bike donations, our mechanics are not trained to repair them.

We don't give away free bike parts.

You'll need to bring your bike into the shop and work with a mechanic to determine what repair is needed. If your bike needs a tube, you can bring in just the wheel. We'll get you fixed up.
