We are always looking for new volunteers regardless of previous experience or bicycle repair knowledge. We also are looking for volunteers that are multilingual, or have interest helping with paperwork in the Office. Whatever your skill, there is a good chance we can utilize it in helping the Lincoln Bike Kitchen, and our community move forward!
The Lincoln Bike Kitchen has openings for volunteers who are committed and will volunteer on a regular basis.
Friends of LBK
From the panhandle to the capitol, from rural to metropolitan areas, CycleNebraska is made up of people who love Nebraska cycling. Our purpose is to cultivate a community by creating connections, sharing stories, and providing information to empower the growth of our cycling community.
Core Volunteers Needed
In addition to the temporary volunteers who wish to earn a bike, or have a volunteer requirement for a certain number of hours, we are looking for longer-term people too!
In order to run the Lincoln Bike Kitchen successfully, we need longer term volunteers that are interested in becoming trained on our procedures and provide the great welcoming atmosphere for which we are known.
We need people that can (or want to learn how to):
Provide Office Support: computer data entry, filing, helping customers, help kids pick appropriate bikes.
Provide Bike Inventory Support: arrange bikes received and chosen, retrieve bikes when needed, maintain placement of chosen children’s bikes, climb stairs.
Bike Mechanic: Refurbish and repair used bikes and complete LBK paperwork accordingly.
Volunteer Wrangler: Guide short term volunteers to do tasks according to their capabilities, supervise bike parting-out.
